It's made of chromium-vanadium steel (CR-V), with better resistance to rust and corrosion than carbon steel. Even so, clean and dry it after every use.
Clean it after every use with a microfibre cloth and, if needed, warm water and mild soap. Dry it thoroughly before storing it and apply a little lubricant to the folding tools, at least once a month or after riding in harsh conditions.
Place the chain in the guide and turn the handle gently to push the pin out or in. Practise at home before you need it in an emergency.
